About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Gardena, CA, Los Cheros Pupuseria is a vibrant Salvadoran restaurant that invites you to a flavorful journey through authentic Central American cuisine. Specializing in pupusas—the beloved stuffed corn tortillas that form the very soul of Salvadoran dining—this cozy spot delivers bold, comforting flavors that keep patrons returning for more.

The moment you take a seat in this intimate, no-frills space, you can feel the warmth not only from the friendly service but from the kitchen where traditional recipes come to life. Their Pupusas De Chicharron Y Queso offer a delightfully crispy, savory bite imbued with melty cheese and tender pork cracklings. For breakfast lovers, the Huevos Revueltos Con Loroco showcase fragrant loroco—a delicate edible flower native to Central America—infused into fluffy scrambled eggs, creating an unforgettable aroma and taste. The Desayuno Lunch Rico is a hearty option, perfectly blending flavors and textures that satisfy any mid-day appetite.

Dishes like Carne Asada paired with savory Camarones, or the richly spiced Bistec Encebollado simmered with caramelized onions, highlight the range and depth of Salvadoran culinary traditions at Los Cheros. The menu also features soul-soothing seafood options like Mojarra Encebollada and robust soups including Sopa de Camarón Y Pescado, each bite reflecting the care and authenticity poured into the kitchen. On the sweeter side, the homemade Malasada offers a pillowy, sugary finish that perfectly complements your meal.

What makes Los Cheros Pupuseria truly stand out is its genuine commitment to traditional Salvadoran flavors served in a welcoming environment where everyone—from first-timers to seasoned aficionados—feels at home. While space may be limited, the bustling atmosphere only adds to the charm, and many regulars recommend calling ahead to secure your favorite dishes during the busy lunch hours.

I have never had Salvadorian food before and my boyfriend recommended that I try this place for my first time. He works not far from here and has come for their pupusas on a few occasions. The place is very small, not much seating but it's a nice little spot to have some good food. We had ordered the plantain with the beans and crema and got that with the bun instead of the tortilla, and also had ordered a couple of cheese pupusas with the loroco, it was so good. The pupusas were made just perfect. Perfect amount of cheese, so soft and melted in your mouth. The dish with the plantains was so good too, reminded me of eating some good home comfort food. I see why he keeps coming back.

Calling to place an order is recommended, but you still have to make the line to pay and pick-up, it would be great if they let you pass the line to pay, because you already placed the order and to make it faster

The best pupusas in town! Now please be aware- their is a long wait specially during lunch time so I recommend calling ahead about 45mins to 1 hour to place your order during the busy times. (Please note, the picture is of a cheese pupusa that I added a carnita taco from El Antonitos- I definetely recommend the combo lol)
